ABOUT ME

I am a biologist product of public and free education in Argentina. I was raised in a family where, in addition to defending human rights, we have always support free education and the good conditions of the education workers.

I love to travel, I completely love to drive, and I like doing field work.

All my life I have loved to travel and to advance in my studies. So, during my life I made these two activities compatible. During my time in Argentina I have tried to keep in touch with travelers from all over the world, improving my cultural knowledge and my languages. So, besides my mother tongue (Spanish), I speak English and Portuguese, and I understand Italian quite well.

As a biologist, I love the area of freshwater ecology, and I completely support interdisciplinary work.

Beside laboratory and travelling life, I am well known for my cakes and for taking care of dogs. I would like to live without dog´s hair in my clothes, but I can not avoid it. After my dog "Cachorro" was poisoned when eating a little piece of paper with poison, I undertook a constant fight against the poisoning in Luján where this type of practices are taken as normal. Since the Cachorro´s departure, my family has been dedicated to helping and recovering dogs in street condition, although we believe that in addition to our grain of sand, a political intervention is important.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

River ecology

Even though I have explored marine fish ecology, I have focused my studies in freshwater ecosystems, especially rivers. I am interested in studies of human impacts, mainly changes in land use, introduction of species, and possible management tools.

2009 - 2014

University of Buenos Aires

PhD in Biological Sciences.

Thesis: Spatial, temporal and trophic structure of the aquatic communities of the Santa Cruz River.

Litter decomposition

Since 2014 I started including functional patterns in my studies. I have studied litter decomposition in urban streams and I have collaborated in the study of this process in relation to the presence of cattle close to small Pampean streams.

Macroinvertebrates

I have studied benthic macroinvertebrates as bioindicator of ecological integrity and as part of salmonids diet.

Introduced species - Salmonids

During my PhD I have studied introduced salmonids diets, diet overlap with native fish species and it distribution along time and space.

At this moment I am also involved in a project which aim is to evaluate the removing invasive beavers - as a restoration tool- from Sourthern Patagonian streams.

1999 - 2006/2008

University of Buenos Aires & University of Washington

Licenciatura degree in Biological Sciences with complementary studies at the University of Washington.
